There has been a growing number of people in recent years turning to something called a sponsored wedding. I heard about this about a year ago, and thought, what the hell is that? It never occurred to me that like TV shows, sporting events and almost everything else in today's society, your wedding can get it's own sponsors. And when you think of it like that, it doesn't seem so strange. In actual fact, celebrities have been doing it for years, designers, magazines and caterers falling over themselves to have their brand slapped onto a celebrity.

Celebrities may have it easy to get their weddings sponsored because the likelihood is, their wedding is going to reach a vast demographic of people not only on their guest list, and when approaching a prospective sponsor, this is what you need to keep in mind. You have to think marketing minded and sell your self to them. Are the sort of wedding couple they want their brand to be associated with? Who is on your guest list? Are they all happily married couples, or also engaged and looking to plan a wedding?
Now this is where when choosing a service you may need to make sure that they offer things for a wider range of people. Choosing a wedding dress from somewhere that also sells formal wear. Florists, caterers and photographers that aren't just confined to wedding services.
You also need to be prepared for a lot of rejection, not all businesses will be convinced that in exchange for a discount, their services will be seen and that this loss of revenue will bring in a greater return for them in future deals. There will be a lot of work involved in contacting different suppliers and services.
Many people still find this sort of thing tacky, but I think done in a more subtle way, it's quite acceptable, even sensible. Now, people maybe be talking more about your dress maker than your wedding dress, but if you have promoted a quality service to your friends and family, then you should be proud that they may use them in the future whilst you have made great savings on your wedding day.
